We stopped by Porvoo on the way there: it was clear and sunny weather, and Porvoo was very beautiful and not nearly as busy as during the summer months. Here&#8217;s the cathedral:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/greygriffin\/12614231\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/photos8.flickr.com\/12614231_d3895cd220_m.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" alt=\"Porvoo cathedral\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The whole wooden old town of Porvoo is very pretty, and Eve &#038; I had a cup of tea and some cake at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafehelmi.net\/\">Caf&eacute; Helmi<\/a>. We promised ourselves that we&#8217;ll return during the summer, ideally with some friends on the old steamship <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msjlruneberg.fi\/indexengelsk.html\">MS. J.L. Runeberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then we drove on to Kotka: it was very nice to see Olga &#038; Kari again, and to see their twins Aleksi &#038; Anna for the first time:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/greygriffin\/12614132\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/photos8.flickr.com\/12614132_34f69e6624_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Aleksi &#038; Anna asleep\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We went for a long walk through Kotka to a harbourside caf\u00c3\u00a9, then back along the shore of a rather pretty lake. And then our time was up, and we whizzed off back to Helsinki. All in all, much more fun than the quiet day in Helsinki which I&#8217;d have had if Eve hadn&#8217;t organised the trip. Thanks, Eve!
