{"id":339,"date":"2005-05-12T00:33:26","date_gmt":"2005-05-11T22:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greygriffin.net\/?p=339"},"modified":"2005-05-12T00:33:26","modified_gmt":"2005-05-11T22:33:26","slug":"st-urhos-sahtiviikot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greygriffin.net\/?p=339","title":{"rendered":"St Urho&#8217;s Sahtiviikot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of our favourite pubs, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.botta.fi\/urhos_pub\/index.html\">St Urho&#8217;s<\/a>, is having &#8216;Sahtiviikot&#8217; starting today and lasting as long as their stocks do. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beerhunter.com\/styles\/sahti.html\">Sahti<\/a> is a traditional beer brewed in the Finnish countryside, typically tasting rather banana-like and about 7%-10% alcohol. Here&#8217;s a typical example:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/greygriffin\/13456261\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/photos11.flickr.com\/13456261_0ede8f4df4_m.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" alt=\"Sahti\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it&#8217;s unfiltered and very thick. Some taste quite yeasty, others pretty much like banana bubblegum. But all get you rather drunk surprisingly quickly. Mike &#038; I were gathering tasting notes:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/greygriffin\/13457059\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/photos9.flickr.com\/13457059_00e524d2a6_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Sahti tasting notes\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So the &#8216;Muffloni&#8217; sahti from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beerhunters.fi\/main.html\">Pub Beer Hunters<\/a> in Pori was the least successful &#8211; stinky, and sweet &#038; vinegary.
